Assembly Instructions for Bulky Production and Bulky Conversion Kit
1. Take all the parts out of the box and put on floor.
2. Start with base and assemble the shaft of the wheel with the label to top and line up the makes in the tee as you push the shaft in.
3. Assemble the treadles to the rodmen. Start with the R (right) treadle and assemble to the Rodman that is closes to the wheel. Do not snap in place until after you put drive band on.
4. Assemble maiden to main shaft so that the orifice end faces you.
5. Assemble legs to maiden.
6. Put a bobbin on the flyer; put a drop of oil at each end, the put on whorl so that the drive cog engages the bobbin. Put flyer in place and put leather brake between flyer and orifice bearing.
7. Put drive band on. Start by putting on whorl then around under legs and treadles and then onto wheel. Snap treadles in place between the screws. Need to keep feet flat on treadles so that they do not tilt and then ride up on the screws.
8. Insert Lazy Kates when you need them like in picture.
9. Oil orifice bearing including the leather brake, the rear bearing, the whorl and the bobbins end where they turn on the brass tube. Oil the ball socket where the Rodman connects to the treadle. If treadle get noisy put a few drops of oil on the base under the treadle adapters.
10. Put a leader onto the Babe Aid and turn the bobbin so the leader overlaps the Babe Aid. You do not need to tie the leader to the bobbin. Use office hook and pull the leader through one of the clips, though the hook on the flyer and out the orifice.
11. Have fun spinning bulky.
